2019 Kla Ha Ya Days Talent Contest Rules and Regulations
- 1st round of competition will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the main stage on the corner of Avenue A and 1st Street. Finals will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Thomas Family Farms
- There are 2 categories and 2 age brackets for the contest.
- The 2 categories are: musical (i.e. singing, playing musical instruments) and other talent (i.e. juggling, acrobatics, etc.)
- The 2 age brackets are: Under the age of 18, and 18 and over.
- Acts will be allotted no more than five (5) minutes to perform. Acts will be penalized if time is exceeded.
- Participants may perform in only one act during the contest.
- No profanity or vulgar lyrics allowed in any vocal performance or dance music. Genres of music may include but are not limited to pop, rap, R&B, jazz, country, rock, blues, Latin and gospel.
- No nudity allowed! Keep attire at a respectable and tasteful level.
- No alcohol, tobacco, or drug advertisements are to be shown on any clothing.
- No pyrotechnics, open flames, sharp objects such as knives or any other dangerous additions.
- Sound technician and microphone will be provided. You must provide your own CD music, instruments, props, keyboard, etc. if needed.
- Vocalists may use recorded accompaniment tracks with vocal background. Lip singing is not allowed.
- Acts are not required but encouraged to bring 2 forms of music (i.e. mp3, Ipod, etc.) if music will be used in any performances.
- Participants agree to allow Own the Night Productions and/or representatives from Kla Ha Ya Days the use of any photographs, audio or video taping of any and/or all participants of the Kla Ha Ya Days Talent Contest as promotional material.
- Participants must submit their entry form no later than Monday, July 1, 2019.
- Participants must arrive to the talent contact stage located at Avenue A and 1st Street at least 30-minutes prior to performance time.
- Participants must perform acts inside their scope of abilities. Parents knowingly and freely accept risks of injury.
- Winner will be chosen based on average score composed by judges. Acts will be judged based on creativity, quality, and stage presence. All judges’ scores are final and will not be released to the public.
- Parents, family, and friends of participants are encouraged to come down to cheer on their favorites.
- 1st place prizes will be awarded in each of the 2 age brackets at the conclusion on July 21, 2019 at Thomas Family Farms.
